SENATORS REQUEST AUDIT OF DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE RE ITS NONCOMPLIANCE WITH EPSTEIN FILES TRANSPARENCY ACT

Attorney General Pamela Bondi is in continuing willful violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act (Public Law 119-38), as the Executive Branch continues to flout the power of Congress.

President Trump thinks that he can violate the law, declaring unconstitutional wars, lying to the American people, and covering up the rape, and trafficking, of more than one thousand American children, whose violation continues to be used as the means for Israel to blackmail politicians in Washington.

Congress can, and must, take immediate action to enforce its powers whether by means of inherent contempt, civil litigation, hearings, or impeachment, while Attorney General Bondi needs to go to jail for willful violation of a law enacted against her office, for obstruction of justice, and for any of her other crimes.

For this reason, twelve senators have requested Inspector General Berthiaume to perform an audit of the Department of Justice’s compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act (Public Law 119-38).

I would ask everyone to read the letter above, which uses strong language to describe “violation of the law,” “records…so heavily redacted that there are serious questions,” and “inconsistent public statements about the contents of the files,” while the Senators note that, given “the [Trump] Administration’s hostility to releasing the files,” its “consistent hostility towards transparency,” and its “failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act,” the Congress is “not able to fully assess for ourselves whether records were inappropriately withheld or redacted” as “questions have only grown in volume since the incomplete release of files on December 19.”

The letter describes a “clear, bipartisan mandate,” while the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act was unanimous in the Senate, with only a single nay in the House, since this is an issue that concerns neither Democrats nor Republicans but only Americans.

This call for an audit by the Inspector General comes only days after the Honorable Chuck Schumer (NY-D), who leads the Democrats in the Senate, introduced a resolution that would direct the Majority Leader of the Senate to “initiate or intervene in one or more civil actions in the name of the Senate in a Federal Court…regarding the failure of the Department of Justice to act in a manner consistent with Public Law 119-38 (the Epstein Files Transparency Act.)”
