INFLUENCES ON THE MK-ULTRA SERIES – JAMES MICHENER

As the author of the amazing Mk-Ultra Series, whose first four volumes now enjoy more than three hundred thousand downloads, I would like to pay tribute to another influential author from my home state of Pennsylvania.

James Michener hails from the county where my family settled, as original purchasers, buying one thousand acres, three hundred years ago, in Pennsylvania, while he gifted more than one hundred million dollars to charity, back when a million was a million, and he starting off teaching at the Hill School (after he graduated from Swarthmore College).

He gave me two big ideas, which increasingly permeate my books, especially the third and fourth volumes, since, before my daughter and I travelled to these awesome places, I read his epic treatments of Hawaii and Alaska.

The one big idea is that religion is total bullshit, used by weakling priests to strike at strong warriors, taking people out of reality, as was pointed out, in the Genealogy of Morals, by Friedrich Nietzsche, while related ideas about biology were suggested not only by Darwin but by Lamarck.

LAMARCK WAS RIGHT

The other big idea is that geology is the ultimate reality, the setting of our lives, which gives the lie to religion, and the foolish self-importance of humans, since we live on a very ancient Earth in the middle of an enormous Universe.

These ideas appear far more literary in the awesome poetry of Robinson Jeffers—but, while you learn about foreign places, including your own home, they also appear in the popular fiction of James Michener.
